- Total miles for last week = 5.6 miles

Shit Runners Say
January was a bust. With the flu, a vacation, a cold, and a bad fall, I pretty much just gave up. However, I can always start...
Marathon Training. Week 15, Run 2.

I didn’t even look at the schedule. I told myself I’d run however far...
Look what Craig bought me today for my new Keurig!! I’m so excited to try both of these tomorrow :) Day 1 of my new job is over, and I did in fact...
Thanks to those that commented on my last post about running in Chicago! Keep the tips coming. I definitely plan to have a series of posts about the transition from the burbs to the city. Should be fun!
So yes…
I’m actually looking up half-marathon training plans to get me started (If I need to, I’ll tweak them as I go). [Picture terrified, yet excited facial expression] I’ve mentioned it to a few friends. [oops!] It definitely has to happen now! The goal - to complete one by the end of the year.
Here we go!
For any marathoners out there, have any tips?
Next month my husband and I will be moving to the City of Chicago. No more chicagloand for us…it’s the big time, the city!
While I’m excited for the change in atmosphere and new adventures, I’m a bit nervous about how I’ll continue my running routine. Silly question, huh?
Right now I run in parks, neighborhoods. For the most part it’s very quiet, no bustling crowds, etc. I can’t imagine encountering that in Chicago, or maybe I’m wrong.
So where do you Chicagoans run? what time of day? any run clubs (I might be willing to give that a shot)?

It’s been a hectic couple of weeks.
Vacation in California ended, Vegas company trip, home, finalizing the apt. hunting in Chicago, sorting some family stuff, work, getting back into the daily routine…. the list goes on.
The one thing missing from all of this…running.
Yup, my running routine took a big hit. But! It’s never too late to start again so today was Day 1 of getting back in to the routine. (Running in the snow is like running in sand. Talk about a workout. It’s also so much fun at the same time).
It’s amazing how much a run can change your day. I love it!
I was talking with a lady at Quiznos today and at the end we both agreed - it’s addicting!
So yea, anywho….moving to the city. It’s official! I’ll definitely need to make a post specifically for city running and any suggestions for training in Chicago.
Ha ha ha!!!!
Even got my mom to go out for three 2.5 mile walks this week. And according to her she’s “feeling great!” One week left in Cali, hopefully another week will help her build the habit of at least walking every now and then.
Tumblr says I have 2 messages but when I click I don’t see any. Sorry if I haven’t responded!
As promised, pictures from the New Year’s Eve Race. It was a really small race (at least compared to the Hot Chocolate race) but it was a great. No overcrowding. You can even see AJ running in front of me in the last picture. What a motivator. :P No regrets about opting into the 5k beach run. What a great way to end the year.
17.7 total miles for the month of December and 6.1 miles last week.
My total for 2011 = 327.78 miles
Kicked off 2012 by dragging my mom out on a ~2.5 mile walk and finished up a 2 mile run today.
2011 was a pretty big year for me. The goal - to run! And crush all the things that held me back from running more than a mile (minor asthma, allergies, knee and ankle pain, etc.) Looking back, it’s super minor compared to what other runner’s overcome.
So how’d it go?
I now run every week, knees are feeling much better, hundreds of miles accomplished and three 5k races done! Last one for the year was this morning :).
So what’s next?
Regular running will continue. Can’t come this far and stop! Next race - a 10k. :)
Overall, I’m very excited to see what the new year will bring.
Happy New Year everybody!
P.S. Running photos from this morning’s race will be posted later. Mom and hubby were spectators which meant lots of photos and embarrassing (jk) cheering.
